Reader | Minister of the Word

Ministers of the Word proclaim the Scriptures during Mass and other liturgical celebrations. They prepare thoroughly, reading with clarity and reverence to help the assembly encounter God’s living Word. This ministry requires a deep respect for Scripture and a commitment to spiritual and liturgical formation.

Acolyte and Altar Servers

Our acolytes also take part in the formation of young altar servers.
St. Margaret Mary’s Parish encourages young boys to become Altar servers who typically assists at Mass after the manner of acolytes, with appropriate instruction and pastoral care of their senior acolytes and priests. They help with practical and liturgical tasks. Their presence in the liturgical service is a role that brings them close to the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
If you would like to become an acolyte, or if your child would like to become an Altar server, please contact the parish office.
Children’s Liturgy

St. Margaret Mary’s Parish celebrates a children’s mass which is usually celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of each month. The mass is dedicated for the children on the 10:30am morning mass which usually has the biggest attendance of young families. After the reading of the Gospel, the priest invites all children at the mass to sit at the front of the altar where he delivers a homily that is engaging to them. This usually brings joy to the children as they love to interact with their priests. After the mass, parishioners and visitors are usually welcomed for morning tea at the Pastoral Centre.
Ministry of Holy Communion to the Sick

St. Margaret Mary’s Parish has a dedicated team of acolytes who engages as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion to the sick and the housebound. They serve with reverence, care, and love for the Eucharist, where they extend the Church’s sacramental presence to those unable to attend. They currently engage in the Holy Communion visits of the parish of up to 30 people. They usually do this on Tuesdays after the 9am mass where a team of acolytes are sent to distribute Holy Communion to the sick and the housebound.
If you would like to be included in the list, please contact the parish office.
Home Retirement Villages

There are three home retirement villages within the parish boundaries which St. Margaret Mary’s parish maintains in regular contact with. The parish engages with a team of acolytes who would visit these villages to distribute Holy Communion to the elderly, the sick and those in palliative care. The priests of the parish would from time to time celebrate masses, hear confessions and offer the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, especially for the dying.
