St. Margaret Mary’s Primary School, Merrylands

On the 7th September 1941, St Margaret Mary’s parish and school were officially opened by Cardinal Gilroy. The school were taught by the Sisters of St. Joseph at its early beginnings which later would transfer the school to the pastoral care of the Marist Sisters. The Marist Sisters have faithfully served at the school in the teaching of education from 1950-1990.   

St. Margaret Mary’s primary continues to provide excellent education through a dedicated staff team full of qualified faith-filled teachers. The parish continues to support the primary school in the religious formation of the students through the celebration of masses, liturgies, in class visits and other sacramental services.

Cerdon College, Merrylands

It was on the Sunday of the 26th March 1961, when Cerdon College was officially opened and blessed by Cardinal Gilroy. The school was entrusted to the care of the Marist Sisters who began their work in 1960 to provide education to 50 students. Their work and dedication to provide education to the students in the spirituality of their Marist charism has inspired these young women in the journey of their faith in Christ.

Today, there are 1200 girls enrolled at Cerdon College who continues to receive quality education. St. Margaret Mary’s Parish continues to support the girls of Cerdon College through the pastoral care of the priests by celebrating school masses, reconciliation, and other liturgies.
